About Us

Welcome to Indian Summer Native American Art. Owned and operated by Jill and Wes Holmes, Indian Summer Native American Art is a personal home based gallery located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake City is the hub to many of our national parks including Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Teton National Park, Mesa Verde and our own Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce and Zions. We are centrally located just hours from the four corners area and the Navajo Reservation. We are within a days drive to all of New Mexico's Pueblos as well as the Hopi Reservation in Arizona. The Shoshone Bannock Reservation is a mere two hours away just to the north of us in Idaho. We have a large population of Native Americans locally including Navajo, Ute, Southern Ute, Goshiute, Paiute and Shivwit.

We are fourth generation dealers in Native American art. Jill's great grandparents homesteaded property in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the 1920s and began two businesses in Santa Fe trading with the local Native Americans. The tradition was carried on by her grandparents, and aunt and uncle. We have been in the Native American art business, buying, selling, appraising (and collecting) for the past thirty plus years. Wes has photographed artwork which has been used in national art magazines. We have had pieces from our private collection featured in art magazines as well. Jill has collaborated in the writing of several books including "Dolls & Toys of Native America." We have spoken at schools and art clubs about Native American art, which we do in our spare time. We do all of our own buying and have made many friends and contacts through our extensive travels in the west. Much of our art is purchased locally as it benefits us as well as the local artist. Salt Lake City, and surrounding areas is the home to many talented Native American artists!

As collectors of Native American Art ourselves, we realize that there needs to be a market that has something for everyone; from the novice to the advanced collector. We hope that if you are new to collecting that you will feel informed about our pieces from our explanations and pleased with our reasonable prices. If you are on your way to an extensive collection and appreciate artists work such as Carmel and Emma Lewis Acoma pottery, Stewart and Andres Quandelacy Zuni Fetish carvings, or any other well known artists' work...chances are we can accommodate you!  We guarantee that every item we sell is authentic, handmade, Native American work. Enjoy!
